Abstract

|
Narcissistic personality disorder is hard to distinguish borderline personality disorder. The concept of narcissism was first introduced by Freud in ¡¯On Narcissism¡¯ the clinical psychoanalysis was emphasized by Heinz Kohut with self psychology¡¯ personality disorders overlap and can confusion in practice due to similarity and basic differences. Henceauthors tried to describe the similarities between two personality disorder major mechanism, core conflicts, ego strengths and symptomatologies. focused two different perspectives of seeing narcissistic personality disorder Kerberg of ego psychology and Kohut of self psychology. Kernberg¡¯s pathological narcissism was different from Kohut¡¯s arrest of normal infantile narcissism. Then it can affect the treatment course and concept of narcissism. In conclusion, it is important to differentiate to and more efficient psychoanalysis or psychotherapy patients.
